The Government of China has announced scholarship opportunities for African students for the academic year 2025. These scholarships are designed to support qualified applicants aiming to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees at Chinese universities.
The scholarships cover a wide range of study subjects including Public Policy, Public Administration, Chinese Economy, Rural Development Management, Public Health, International Communication, Transportation Engineering, Professional Accounting, Environmental Management, Information and Communication Engineering, International Law, Public Diplomacy, International Relations, and Theoretical Economics in National Development.
Applicants eligible for these scholarships must be nationals of African countries and meet specific academic and language requirements. Prospective master’s candidates should hold an undergraduate degree from a recognized university with at least a second-class upper division or its equivalent in a relevant field. Doctoral applicants must possess a relevant master’s degree. Additionally, candidates must be no older than 35 years and demonstrate fluency in English, which is the language of instruction. Some candidates may be required to participate in a written or oral examination following pre-selection.
The application deadline for the scholarships is June 29, 2025. Interested applicants must submit a cover letter explaining their motivation and how the qualification will enable them to contribute to the continent. Supporting documents required include a curriculum vitae, certified academic certificates and transcripts, passport copy with at least six months validity, a recent passport-sized photograph, two academic reference letters, and a health certificate.
Applications must be submitted directly through the respective university’s official website, with copies sent via email.
This initiative forms part of China’s ongoing efforts to foster educational cooperation with African countries, with the African Union’s Commission acting as the executive and administrative body supporting the scholarship program.
